Bolt and Forest announce e-bike partnership in London
London, 4 March 2025 - Bolt, the global shared mobility platform and largest micromobility operator in Europe, has partnered with Forest, London's most affordable and sustainable shared e-bike service to improve urban mobility in London. From Monday 10 March, Londoners will be able to rent any of Forest’s 15,000 e-bikes through the Bolt app for the first time, improving access to convenient, affordable and flexible transport options across 14 of London’s boroughs.
Having first launched in the city in June 2019, Bolt has become increasingly popular, with more than half of Londoners using the platform last year, while Forest completes 1.2 million e-bike rides each month to become one of the largest e-bike operators in Europe.
London is one of the largest e-bike rental markets in the world, with 50,000 e-bikes available to rent in the city. Forest and Lime, the capital’s only operators, completed over 30 million rides in 2024. Half of Londoners aged between 18 and 34 years use bike share weekly.
Markus Villig, Founder and CEO of Bolt said: “More than six million people have used Bolt’s ride-hailing service in London and making Forest e-bikes available on the Bolt app will provide them with another convenient and sustainable way to move around, as well as connectivity to existing transport hubs in one of the world’s busiest cities. Bolt is already the largest scooter and e-bike provider in Europe with over 230,000 vehicles in more than 25 countries, and this is the latest example of how we use partnerships to expand the services we bring to our customers, beyond operating our own fleet."
Agustin Guilisasti, CEO & Founder of Forest, said: “We are delighted to be launching this ground-breaking partnership with Bolt, seamlessly allowing their millions of customers to access Forest’s affordable and sustainable shared e-bikes in London. Forest’s priority has always been to lower barriers to make cycling as accessible as possible. This is another powerful example of how mobility players can join forces to simplify how we travel, and boost the number of trips made by bike for the benefit of our communities and the environment.”
More than 70 percent of Bolt customers in the UK do not own a car, demonstrating that shared mobility services like ride-hailing are serving a new demographic of customers who are moving away from private car ownership.
1 in 5 Bolt rides in London cover distances under 3km, representing demand for shorter-distance transport options, while 47% of Bolt’s global micromobility journeys connect with and complement public transport journeys, highlighting the need for seamless multimodal transport. By integrating Forest e-bikes, Bolt is offering another city-friendly way to get around.
Forest is the only e-bike operator in the capital to use 100% renewable energy to power their 100% electric servicing fleet, also offsetting their minimal scope 1 emissions, as well as their scope 2 and 3 emissions through local offsetting partners in the UK.
In recent years, Bolt has integrated its shared mobility services with key local market players, including Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) providers like Gaiyo in the Netherlands and Floya in Brussels, as well as car-sharing platforms such as MILES in Germany, which added 20,000 vehicles to meet the rising demand for flexible transport solutions.
With the growing demand for accessible and affordable transportation, Bolt has built a trusted platform for over 200 million lifetime customers across 50+ countries and 600+ cities. In addition to providing shared mobility options, Bolt also creates attractive earning opportunities for more than 4.5 million drivers and couriers.
