Friends of the Forest get 20% off all trips

  • Forest has introduced its Friends of the Forest scheme, their latest offering in breaking down cost barriers to sustainable micromobility
  • Students, NHS staff and emergency service workers will be eligible to take advantage of the 20% discount on all Forest trips
  • 20% discount applies to per minute riding only

London, 28 September 2022: Forest, the most affordable and sustainable eBike sharing service in London, has launched its Friends of the Forest concession scheme.

Available to all students, pensioners, NHS staff and emergency service workers, millions across the capital will qualify to benefit from the 20% discount on all Pay As You Go Forest rides.

The scheme's launch coincides with the start of a new academic year for university students. Forest is pleased to offer support at a time when student loans are being stretched beyond their means in the midst of the cost-living crisis.

Whilst Friends of the Forest is inclusive of mature students, Forest identifies value in introducing sustainable travel options to the average student aged between 18-22. It is hoped they will be a catalyst for further behavioural change among their peers, given their greater engagement and proactiveness regarding the environment and climate change.

Forest is also proud to be offering its 20% discount to NHS staff and emergency service workers in recognition for all of their hard work and the support they provide to the community. Partnering with individual NHS trusts across London is also an active and positive step towards their commitment to reaching carbon net zero by 2040, being the world’s first health service to make such a pledge.

All those eligible for the Friends of the Forest scheme often experience high degrees of stress and intense working hours, so it is hoped that with the Forest discount they will enjoy the benefits of getting outside and participating in active travel to alleviate stress.

Charlotte Pepperell, Interim Head of Partnerships at Forest, said:

“Community is a huge part of the mission at Forest, so we’re proud to be able to provide a way in which to support students and key workers. With the cost of living crisis making people consider their daily spending more and more, it’s crucial that we continue to make sustainable travel affordable to make a real impact in our urban environment.”

A spokesperson for The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust said:

“We are delighted to host a Forest Green Bay on our Sutton site. It will offer our staff the opportunity to access this green and efficient mode of transport to and from the train station, made even more accessible by Forest’s Friends of the Forest 20% discount off all rides for key workers.”
